On-demand data, right at your fingertips

Communication is key to everything in business, and let’s face it, in life too. When there is a breakdown of communication, or when communication and intel get to the decision maker slower than is ideal, this can affect many areas of business.

When safety is a concern, the faster a manager or decision maker gets that intel, it could be the difference between avoiding an event or the unimaginable.

We have a few customers in the logistics business and with so many assets and operators on the road, it’s hard to keep up with the current status of an operator. This is because many times the software and the hardware do not talk to each other. Below is how we solved this very issue for our client. You may not be in the logistics industry, however, we know that communications can always be tighter. The more data you have at your disposal, and if that data is on-demand when you need it, you can make faster decisions, propelling your business forward instead of getting stuck by another obstacle.

Let’s dive in.

What Was The Problem?

Traditional DMS (Driver Monitoring Systems) have a lengthy period between detection of the event in the cabin and a manager speaking to the operator. This is due to their disparate systems not talking to each other, end user’s requirements and the nature of having to deal with incidents at any time of the day.

What Was The Solution?

Single Source worked with our customer base to design a solution that made both mobility easy and delivered all of the information to the manager in a single screen, on demand. We built a native mobile App that can send a push notification to the manager as soon as an event is triggered and sent to the server by any DMS camera that we have integrated with. Then, using the other data sets that we ingest such as Telematics and MDVR or Dashcams we combine the video from DMS (which is all you traditionally get) with the Driver’s name and phone number plus any other camera footage from the other cameras that were available for the same matched times.

What Were The Outcomes?

  • We reduced the average response time from over 10 minutes (receiving the call, getting the laptop, logging in to view the video, then looking up who is driving that vehicle in the telematics portal, finding their phone number and making the call) down to sub one minute (receive a push notification, watch video on phone and press the button above it for one-touch calling from the App).

  • Managers were able to use the App to share and communicate with other managers when working on large fleets,  multiple reporting structures, and or channels of communication-based on time of day and shift.

  • DMS as a concept is suddenly a mobile solution that is much easier to work with than the traditional disparate stand-alone web version.

  • We are now expanding the App to include events from ADAS technologies such as lane departure or near collision warnings, and Telematics events paired with dashcam footage for speeding or harsh cornering, harsh braking or possible detected accidents, and or rollovers.

Whether you’re operating a fleet or you have a large team, keeping communication as a source of truth and having the ability to customise the data sets that you do get, Single Source Solutions can work with you to create the dashboard, reporting and notification system that will help you and your team become more responsive and in turn make those important business decisions easier and faster all on one platform.
